I was lucky to figure out what I wanted to do for my career in high school. I was even luckier that we knew someone with a B2B agency looking for an intern. I juggled interning with a full load of college courses feeling like I was getting a dual education – theory and hands-on training. Upon graduation I hit the ground running, able to handle public relations, account management, traffic & tradeshow planning.
I moved to The Quest Business Agency and put those skills to use. I gained even more in the areas of research, strategic planning, direct marketing & advertising. I then joined the largest agency in Houston, Fogarty Klein Monroe (FKM). At FKM I worked on Dell Computer, BMC Software and B2C client Resort Condominiums International, all direct marketing accounts.
After FKM, I went back to small agency life at Communications Plus, working with Sam Houston Electric and Texas Emergency Care. My former Dell client then recruited me for a Silicon Valley digital marketing agency, Design Reactor (DR). Assigned to the HP account, I was Account Director for the team that created HP’s virtual events. The work was ground breaking and received many prestigious awards. Following my time at DR, I served as an independent marketing consultant with a concentration in web-related projects. Then one night at dinner Alycia had an idea…
